Resets

Turn defense into neutral. Soften hard pace and earn your way back to the kitchen.

Quick start
  • Use a soft grip and absorb pace—think ‘catch’ not ‘hit’.
  • Aim middle and low to reduce angles and speed-ups.
  • Reset in layers: first neutral, then advance.
Common mistakes
  • Trying to do a perfect drop reset and dumping it into the net.
  • Over-gripping which makes the ball spring up.
  • Resetting crosscourt from a stretched position (riskier).
Drills
resettransitionsoft hands
  • Transition reset: partner drives; you reset softly to the middle.
  • Two-ball drill: reset → reset again (no attacking).
  • Reset + move: after each reset, take one step forward.
